Author’s note: For a friend, Winter Holiday, 2006. She asked for “lip gloss”.

Summary: House doesn’t like that flavour.

Wilson wandered into Diagnostics, clutching his empty mug in one hand and his fingers pressed to his lower lip. Cameron looked up from the table. “Anything wrong, Doctor Wilson?”"Nothing serious. I just need coffee and some sort of lip balm. You don’t have anything, do you?”Cameron took her bag from the back of the chair and filtered through the contents. “Not unless you want flavoured lip gloss.” She offered him the tube. “I’ve never used it. I realized after I got it home that it was peach and not orange.”Wilson took it and read the contents. Nothing toxic. Nothing that would sting. Nothing that might cause an allergic reaction. He shrugged his shoulders and held up the gloss. “Think this will actually help?”

“Until you can get something like petroleum jelly or an actual Chap Stick it should be fine.”

He rolled the gloss over his lower lip. “I almost expected you to say it’d be peachy.”

Cameron laughed. “I’m not House.”

“Speak of the devil,” Wilson said as House entered the office and made his way to the coffee maker.

House stopped short and lifted his head, sniffing the air like a dog. “What is that? It’s foul. It’s like rotting fruit.” He turned to Cameron and stuck his face very close to hers, snuffling loudly. “It’s not you. I know it’s not me, so that leaves…” He pivoted to Wilson and again leaned in close. Then, to Cameron’s shock and Wilson’s barely concealed amusement, he licked Wilson like an over-eager dog.

“Peach,” he muttered. “I hate peach.”

Author’s note the second: Yes, I’m aware a hospital would have petroleum jelly around. But that’s not nearly as funny, now is it? ;)
